4 Tenets of Treating Others How You Want to Be Treated

1. Being a team player

When people think about manufacturing, they often imagine a fabricator working alone on a piece of equipment. However, there are many aspects of sheet metal fabrication that take a team effort to be successful.

The Barton 247C is a renowned chart recorder known for its reliability and accuracy in recording process data. Manufactured by ITT Controls, the Barton 247C model offers precise charting capabilities for monitoring various parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level in industrial processes. With its durable construction and advanced features, the Barton 247C ensures consistent performance even in harsh environments found in sectors like oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation. Equipped with customizable chart scales, pen configurations, and alarm settings, this chart recorder provides valuable insights into process performance and helps operators maintain optimal control over their systems. Trusted by industries worldwide, the Barton 247C continues to be a preferred choice for process data recording and analysis.

At Approved Sheet Metal, we spend most of our time working shoulder to shoulder with each other. We’re constantly passing information between teams on our custom fabrication shop floor. Each member relies on the person before and after them to complete a project.

A crucial part of being a team player is treating others how you want to be treated. We’re only as strong as the weakest link in our chain, and strength comes from lifting each other up and treating one other with respect. That way, we can function as one cohesive unit in the direction of success.

2. Practicing healthy communication

The way we communicate is an essential aspect of how we treat each other, and it involves listening above all else.

We regularly hold team meetings to get everyone on the same page about company operations. Gathering together allows us to appreciate other team members’ challenges, which we may not have known about otherwise.

When you’re focused on just your tasks every day, it’s hard to be aware of the difficulties your peers are facing. But if you want to treat others well, you have to understand where they’re coming from.

In addition to listening to each other, we make it a point to speak to one another, and our customers, respectfully. We ask our team members to ask themselves, “Do you want to be talked to like that?”

3. Boosting morale

We’re committed to keeping morale high at our sheet metal fabrication shop. It’s a major differentiator that helps us live up to our core values and guarantee superior work for our customers.

We work together so closely that we can’t afford to have one team member feeling negative or unhappy. But instead of putting the onus on individual team members, we lead by example from the top. We never ask direct reports to do something that we wouldn’t do ourselves. The result is exceptionally high morale across our organization.

4. Providing superior customer service

We extend all our core values to our customers, and this one is no different. We stop and think about what we would like if we were customers. How would we want our projects to play out? How would we want our parts made? We have our customers’ best interests in mind at all times.

Treating customers how we want to be treated means we’re proactive in suggesting ways to improve parts and processes. It means we frequently communicate with our customers to make sure they’re in the know about their projects. And it means we do everything possible to ensure they have a great experience with us.

If you’re looking for your next career opportunity and believe in treating others how you like to be treated, we want to talk to you. We’re actively hiring new team members committed to upholding our core values. Please visit our careers page to learn more.
