There are many options for a polished finish on stainless products.  The most common polish is a #3 or #4 finish which you can see on things like household appliances. A #8 polish is a mirror finish. A lot of architects like the reflective look of the mirror finish or even a bright annealed finish.  Mirror finishes are good for interior designs and storefronts because consumers will enjoy the appearance of the structures because they shine in the light and look clean and reflective.

#2: Brushed Stainless Steel Finishes

Brushed stainless products are similar to polished. They are finished with a light abrasion. With brushed stainless you will see a bit of the soft silver-gray under the surface.  It has a bit of a vintage look that you may enjoy, and it will match any structure that does not have other bright colors featured. You will subdue the color of the steel a bit, and many designers enjoy the look of the brushed finish because it does not reflect light as much as the mirror polished finishes.

#3: Blasted And Pickled Stainless Steel Finishes

The blasted and pickled finish is the standard finish of Stainless Structurals’ products.  To get this finish, we bead blast the stainless shapes to mechanically remove any contaminants and then dip them in a passivation tank to chemically remove any contaminants. This finish has a matte appearance with a very clean look to it. The blasted and pickled finish works well when you are looking for the industrial style, or also when the stainless shapes and designs are exposed in the final project.  Architects like this finish because it hides any blemishes or finger prints that are common in storefront and exposed structures. This finish is also a favorite for marine projects or any project that will encounter quite a lot of adverse conditions, weather and wind.

The Right Finish for Your Project

When architects and designers have a vision for a finished project, appearance is one of the primary factors. The different finishes available on stainless steel make it a very popular choice in design. There is a finish that will suit any project, and the finish you choose will cap off a beautiful structure.
